“When I look into mirror, it surprises me like oh my God I am not white.”
“You will marry someone white. I am not surprised at first.”
It is be hard for adoptees to imagine that even though they are accustomed to all of their lifestyles, they have struggles with their identities. They are having human relationships with different races, and they don’t know where they came from. Even more to that, some or few of adoptees experience not only struggles that they face due to their identities but also racism because of having friendship or other relationships with different races.
This video vividly illustrates about obstacles that adoptees in general face. They effectively described how shocking that they are different from neighborhoods or friends that they hung out with. Also, one of interviewee who is an actor commented that she experienced racism, and racism is such an inevitable but extremely unfair to adoptees who lived most of life without their biological parents.
Adoptees face strong struggles with their identities, and unjust situations also follow for their identities. And this video effectively described their hardships.
